 ABOUT

Honk! is a musical retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling, mixed with a theme of pro-tolerance. It features an ugly duckling who discovers his inner beauty when he becomes a swan, his tearful mother Ida, a drake who 'ducks' his fatherly responsibilities, a gaggle of comical geese, a sly tomcat who just wants to play with his food, a wisecracking bullfrog, and other such barnyard creatures, together with a great many "fowl" puns.

 REVIEWS
Bill Stubbs - NODA
Once again a Region No. 5 first for this talented group, and once again a huge success with this production. This highly original show was expertly performed by an outstanding cast. Matthew Coulter was in excellent form as the confused Ugly, while the very demanding role of Ida was played with great aplomb by Maureen Barr, who was well supported by David Bridges (Drake) and the Ducklings - Gemma Burt, Grace McHale, Aimee McGhee and Darren Strang. The part of the scheming cat was played convincing by Bryan Shallow. Every member of the cast deserves recognition for such a wonderful show, perhaps some more than others, namely Jim McGhee (Turkey), Paul Leonard and Ailsa King, who were very good as Greylag and Dot. Pauline Duffy showed her growing stage maturity with a sound performance as Lowbutt. The cameo role of Bullfrog was excellently played by Joe Totten. The production team can be satisfied with yet another glowing triumph.
